Cuban public discourse has a distinctive style, rooted in circular reasoning different from Anglo logical rationality, and characterized by sympathy and respect toward the listener. It comes across to me, a native English speaker, as a style that buries the key points in a flurry of words. But because of its tendency toward respectful listening to others and its historic pattern of exceptional leadership, which are central to understanding, the key points are often insightful. For native English speakers, it is a question of finding insights hidden by many words.
