Thanks you, Chuck. ,you taught me early on.. 30+ yrs ago! ... to look at Western economic interest, labor and raw materials export. Here, not bananas, but Uranium.

Q: Democracynow.org is reporting that these coupe leaders in these West African countries have been trained by the U.S., even at Ft Benning. That info, though, counters the thought that these coupe leaders are fighting for national sovereignty.

thoughts?

The charge that the leaders of the recent West African coups have been trained by the USA is inconsistent with what Cuban scholars and the Cuban and Russian media have been reporting. I have more confidence in Cuban sources, based on their history of telling the truth.

The most known of the leaders of the recent West African coups is Ibrahim Traoré, head of state of Burkina Faso. According to Wikipedia, he was educated and trained in Burkina Faso. He distinguished himself in the struggle against terrorism in his native country. He often has expressed pro-Russian and anti-French views. He has been compared to the 1980s anti-imperialist revolutionary Thomas Sankara.

The initial biographical information on the General Abdourahamane Tchiani, the leader of the coup in Niger, reports that his military training was at a military academy in Senegal, and that he has served on missions with the United Nations and the Economic Community of the States of West Africa. He led military operations against contraband and drug traffickers.
